This is a very unique and rare, one of a kind Eastern coffee table in a wheel design, with stepped sides. Described to me as an Asian cooking table. It is hand made, one of a kind with hand cut and tooled wrought iron or steel embellishments. The center of the living room coffee table has been cut out. There is a hand made metal bowl that sits inside the cut-out. I was told that it would have been lined with perhaps copper and hot embers cooked the food in the bow for a communal eating experience. Personally, I think its way too nice for that but can't contradict it either. A piece of glass could be placed on top to protect it. Please use the zoom feature to inspect this amazing table. **** please contact me regarding organized packing and shipping to your location - shipping is NOT FREE - Ontario pickup or you have to arrange for white glove truck delivery - I can help
I do not know what kind of wood it is and I am not sure of the date. I was told that its early 20th century and could be older. I have not seen another like it anywhere. It is very heavy and substantial. The wheel design sits on a make-shift plywood base. I don't know who made it or when, or what the table might have been sitting on before this. There are more photos so please just ask. This would have to be wrapped and shipped with a moving company arranged and paid for by the buyer - I am happy to facilitate.
CONDITION: Excellent antique / vintage condition with signs of usage. There are dings and chips on the extreme edges. A few water stains that can be mediated.
SIZE: 54 inches across and 16 inches high. I have no idea of the weight but it is solid and very, very heavy.
Andrea, your store is a wonderful treasure trove and your knowledge and class are of a scholarly collector.
I am a university research professor with an eye for detail. I have never seen any vendor with your level of exquisite scholarship. Just like your fine objets d'art, your descriptions are crafted with masterful finesse; it is such a pleasure reading them and it is also a great learning experience. Thanks again! Patrick
From the first time I watched a classic movie as a young girl, and watched Astaire and Rogers float across a dance floor I have loved art deco design, art, fashion and jewelry. So bold and beautiful, and so different from anything that came before it, art deco changed social and design sensibilities forever.A lifetime collector of high quality antiques and vintage, I started by making contacts, researching and learning. Picking the best of the best, I live with art deco and vintage decor and used to wear the fashions of the day. To say that I feel in love is an understatement. I reveled in the fact that I was able to reflect my unique style and sensibilities with a marriage of old and new. What you see in my shop is my personal collection. Since I was in my teens I have bought what pleases me, what I find beautiful and unique, and the things that speak to me on a creative level. I hope that you can see and feel the passion and love that I feel for antiques and vintage pieces and share with you. You will find art deco, collectible and vintage fine art paintings, original illustrations and magazine covers, home decor, marble, alabaster and metal lamps, nude flapper table lamps, sterling silver decorative accents and tableware for the home and entertaining, designer and estate jewelry and fine vintage watches in my shop.
